Tamworth hospital prepares for busy festival period in May On Friday, the school board voted overwhelmingly to cancel the Christmas festival. As a result, many local businesses have taken over part of the festival at the nearby town centre. School closures and delays are planned for next week. It added: "However, for the current festival season our primary focus is to provide additional services including extra services to our pupils and other communities. The Christmas festival weekend, which is extended until 9 January, is designed to create and maintain the best atmosphere in our school so that pupils do well on New Year's Eve. "We ask that our children enjoy the extra festive activity and that we do not close our schools. We ask that if you go to the festival you are accompanied by parents or an older member of the school community."
